Historically, mankind has always depicted animals in drawings and sculptures.   While many anthropologists speculate these collectible animal figurines were spiritual aides for hunters, they might just as easily have been for purely decorative purposes. Today, collectible animal figurines come in a variety of materials and styles.  You can even find collectible animal figurines that have symbolic meaning within a culture.

Chances are everyone had collectible animal figurines when they were little. Stuffed toys in the shape of bears, dogs, and even unicorns may have been much more favored by you than unsightly humanoid dolls.  On the other hand, you may also have had more traditional collectible animal figurines made of plastic, porcelain, or even metal.  They may have even come in sets of beautiful and ornate keepsakes.

Today, the availability of resin collectible animal figurines is enormous.  Chances are you will find everything from sheep dogs to Pegasus gracing the aisles of dollar stores and gift shops.  You have only to take a quick walk through KD Hallmark, or other similar types of shops to see collectible animal figurines of every size and shape.

In some cases, collectible animal figurines come encased within other objects.  As an example, you might find a charming sculpture of Mickey Mouse inside a snow globe.  Even horses and fish models have been known to inhabit contemporary versions of fabergé eggs and tear drop globes.  Chances are, if you are drawn to browse aisles full of collectible animal figurines, you cannot resist taking a few home.

You may even find that browsing for collectible animal figurines is a wonderful way to relax from a hectic day.  Considering many things are sold on the internet, it should come as no surprise that you will find collectible animal figurines there.  In particular, you may want to look on places like Ebay for limited edition sets of collectible animal figurines.  Even if you do not find a complete set, there is always a chance you will find the missing pieces later on.

Many people may be surprised to learn that the collectible animal figurines they own are worth more than what was paid for them.  As an example, figurines from the Great Depression and various war eras can be worth hundreds of dollars today.  If the figurines were part of a limited edition production period, and carry a number to note their order number in the creation process, they may be worth even more money.  That said, if they were given to you when you were a child, no doubt they are priceless keepsakes.

Over the years, you are bound to have developed an affinity or liking for certain animals.  Even if it is wild lions or tame dogs, you would probably like to have replicas of them around your home and office.  Collectible animal figurines can offer an inexpensive way for you to do this.  You may even find that these figurines gain in monetary value over the years.  Today, some people will buy sets of new limited edition collectible animal figurines in hopes that they can sell them for profit one day.
